Back in the 60s when I was around 7 8 years old I would go to the dojo with my father where he held classes and demonstrate these takeaways with adults. The class would be amazed that a child could do such things. The nearest thing to a fake weapon back then was a spring-loaded dart gun that shot the suction cup Dart. People are always said well you can't get your head out of the way fast enough, or what other body part they would aim at, They'll pull the trigger. I grounded the spring Dart moves a little slower than a bullet but it worked well for people to realize how fast you can get out of the way. We just started using a little bit of watercolor paint for the close calls.
