Never fight a knife with bare hands if you have a chance to run away.
If dude feels pain and is giving up the weapon it works.
At the point dude has knife on your neck that is a static hold… you pretty much have to fight back. This isn't a knife fight this is a hostage situation.
They probably are not expecting you to fight back and will be lacking. People tend to get over confident or careless. In the moment of lack of focus you can use element of surprise to attack and defeat him.
If he was actually attacking you would already be cut. That isn't the situation so this defense seems realistic to me.

Because the knife-wielding maniac, once he closes distance, will just stand there and do nothing so you have time to exercise your goofy move.
The empty hand will not sitting idle by typical offenders and the knife hand is not normally fully extended like an idiot. This guy never been mugged or saw mugging. @jordymoonen3643 twisting attacker’s right arm makes his left shoulder move farther away so his left arm can’t reach shit. Also you are actually getting towards attacker’s back for better control of the situation so chances he can face you get slimmer. These kinda plugs totally work and are present in many martial arts like aikido.
Seriously, I used to grab my bro’s hand with two fingers and twist it by applying pressure at the right spots whenever we would cub fight, and then release so we would laugh. But it would totally freeze his movements.
Probably did this too much cause to this day he’s still cautious when I grab his hand, tho 😂
