That cop needs to be in prison for murder
The officer was cleared of charges in July 2023. Ridiculous
Iām retired Leo and I see zero justification for the shooting, depending on what the officer said. Did he say he had something in his hand? Btw: I could hit that shot easily when on the job. I regularly shot at 50 and even 100 yards. There is no way it can be done in tenths of a second though. This guy should not be an officer.
All charges were dropped, and Joseph Lamantia will soon be back on the streets as a police officer. Absolutely insane

This isnt questionable its blatantly illegal , and the officer has a familiar record?! Without a doubt it was just murder. He never interacted with the subject. The subject never so much as looked at the officer. He shot DIRECTLY INTO a building, then after he surrendered, another few shots out of nowhere?! This is absolutely not justified

I am a long time resident of Modesto, and this former officer is now trying to force the city of Modesto to hire him back. We have told the city to refuse to hire back. This former cop has four other kills. This is too common and it is systemic, not individuals.
The first round maybe is "OK", It can be warning shots (In a hypothetical case). The second round is a cold homicide man
This dude got murdered over suspicion. And suspicion is not a reasonably articulable crime. Same reason as a civilian walking you don't need to supply an id unless they have a reasonable explanation for why you're being detained.
HOWEVER while driving you forfeit those rights with your agreement with the dmv. An officer has every right to request proof of ability to legally drive

I think the policeman made the right call when he called for back up when the situation had calmed down a little bit (the suspect — cop didn't know he had no weapons then — raised his hands). If he came closer and seriously injured because suspect had had a gun and shot him, then it'd be too late and no time to call for back up! Also, the victim in this case lowered his right hand down TOO FAST to his waist/pockets area and the cop, too quick on the trigger, shot him.

Yes. Don't call the cops unless it's absolutely necessary. I think people don't think about this enough and they want the cops to be a referee for stupid situations and police resources are being wasted. The idea of sending psychological health professionals instead makes sense.
