Best Optic?
Honestly, I like all three. Between Red Dots and Holographics; I have always ran Holosights because of the wider field of view and less parallax. However, now that I’m retired and not going out on ops every night overseas; the shake-awake feature of many of the new red dots is awesome for a closet rifle or truck gun. Then, there is always the fact that my “perfect eyesight” is gone with age and I have astigmatism that is fixed best with a prism.

All three types are great. All have strong points. You decide what is best for you. Thanks for watching, TR.

The idea of a video is to show how the shooting is ..too learn something …we cant see the target… no one wants to sit and watch someone just shoot and say what they did..hard time to get through this one

I run Eotech's on my 3-gun rifle and shotgun. I went through several set-ups for my competition AR: LPVO, scope with 45 offset mini red dot, Eotech alone, and finally adding the 5x magnifier to the Eotech. The Eotech alone was fine out to 800 yards on the range; however, I found I had trouble seeing some long range targets in field conditions at some 3 gun matches, so I added the magnifier to identify hard to see targets. Obviously didn't need the magnifier on the shotgun for 3 gun; however, if set up properly, the ring of Eotech is approximately your shot pattern! That alone has saved my butt on multiple stages with shoot and no shoot shotgun targets closer than the shot spread, so you had to know your spread to only hit the good target! I found them to be the fastest and most reliable option. Honestly, a couple ounces is not going to slow down your rifle manipulation at all. I have found for my pistol red dots and long gun sights, the larger the glass the better! For concealed carry, there are concealment and comfort issues, but for anything else the bigger the glass, the sooner you can pick up that dot/image, especially when firing from an awkward position.
Battery life really doesn't matter; unless you are planning to fight a guerilla war where finding new or recharging batteries isn't going to be reliable. So for SHTF planning that could be an issue; otherwise, it will last longer than you will need it to at one time by far.
I love shake awake on my home defense pistol, but if I don't have time to turn on the sight of my rifle, I don't have time to get to it anyway. My pistol follows me around the house and is ready to go on my nightstand at night. The home defense AR on the other hand would be a bit much to move around the house all day long; I figure, if 22 rounds of 10mm can't buy me the time needed to get to the AR, then it wasn't enough to fix the problem anyway!

i have perfect vision but my family members do not. I keep a prism on the SHTF rifle, i keep ambi controls on it, and i keep the handle stuffed with foamies.

my thinking is, hand and eye injuries are probably highly likely if i ever have to fight, and i can always pass the rifle to friend of family and not have to worry about them being able to use it.

doesnt need batteries either, i can see the reticle and the drops fine without illumination

Best advice, pick one that is durable, can survive some water(not necessarily launched out of a sub), always on(even motac can be turned off on most), and I'll add company support, I know Sig and Primary replace even stuff I busted…

Great Video from a qualified guy that isn't shoving his opinions based on combat ops down your throat, pick the optic that works for you based on your op and your eyes, great advicešŸ‘šŸ¾

I remember being a new-ish troop and being told our aimpoints were ā€œparallax freeā€ so I shot it during a course assuming what I was told was true. It’s not. None of them are really 100% parallax free. Those poor support beams šŸ™

i have never loved an optic more than my romeo 3 with the eiffel tower scaffold riser. i think specifically its the 3 micro, the greyish one. anyhow, super light weight, natural aimer, as soon as i bring it up, my eye is right on the dot. great battery life. its not wildly robust but its on my scorpion so that doesnt worry me much. just excellent little optic. had it for 4 years now, never turned it off, never changed the battery…never failed.

I've been shooting a long time – over 60 years now. I wasn't around before iron sights but at 71 I feel like I was. I was raised on them. My fighting days in Nam are far behind me, some 50+ years now but I just love the new Prism optics especially 3X BDC reticles for 5.56 and .300 Blackout. Could never afford the ACOG or the Eotech because of cost but I've run red dots and with offset magnifiers of all kinds. The etched reticle makes all the difference. It never goes dead. I have a Crimson Trace CTS1100 3.5X BDC on the 5.56 with 45 degree offset flip up iron sites and the Primary Arms 3x SLx Blackout BDC on my 16" Blackout that has a Pic rail on top of it for a red dot if you want one. But it is a little tall for me so a I run Sig Romeo 3 dot on 45 degree offset. For the suppressed. 300 Blackout 10.5"barrel CQB gun I run a Day Night 1-3x thermal with an offset red dot. My AR 6.5 Grendel has a Vortex 4-12x4dead hold BDC reticle for deer hunting and long rang AR 15 platform shooting. Just like we are in the golden age of AR platform guns, we are in the age of really fine optics at prices even I can afford. If you shoot you will find the combination right for each one of your guns that fits you. Now I have to get my hip replaced so I can keep up with the 91 year old dad and 31 Yr old SIL. Loved this video

You ask someone they are like uh huh yeah they work. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
Needed some info as to the differences between them and that’s what you nailed plus the comment section brought out some interesting points.
So thank again for the vid, I needed it.
