Lots of comments from viewers complaining that they can’t do any of our drills at their local ranges, because of strict rules forbidding “draws” and “Rapid Fire.”
So this week, I wanted to address some of my favorite drills that you CAN do at these facilities. So, I filmed this at an indoor shooting range. Nothing fancy, just 5 basic drills. I knocked them all out with just the ammo that I already had on my belt. Actually, to be honest, I forgot to bring ammo, and was too cheap to buy some at the range. So, this was all filmed in one take. I even left in my “mistake” while shooting one of the drills. Yep, I screw up too; that’s why we need to practice.
No, I didn’t shoot the “Smiley Face.” That’s me messing with the internet ninjas.
Special “Thanks” to the Louisville Armory, for letting us film on their ranges before they opened that morning (nice quiet range is great for filming). If you are ever in the Louisville area, you have got to check out this place, as it is a great indoor range. How great? Zee and I teach Pistol, Carbine, Combatives, CQB (they have a shoot house!!!), and several other courses here. Again, Thanks David, and the rest of the Louisville Armory team.

Are we not talking about the smiley face?
Nice work brother. I'm having an opportunity to work with a small Hotel security team and use many of the things you've shared.
I am a new shooter aiming for competence and eventual EDC. This was great info and now both you and Lena Miculek are my (video) instructors. Thank you!! (I have a Sig p365 380.)
WHY ARE YOU NOT ALLOWED TO DRAW ON THE RANGE
I've seen so many first time shooters renting guns and rifles at my range and they are DANGEROUS!!! Thank God for these rules!!!
Retired LEO. We were trained as follows: Two center of mass; one to the head. (in the case of body armor), over and over to develop muscle-memory.
I was taught to put 2 in the chest and 1 in the head.
I have to disagree with your statement that most shooters at indoor ranges are not safe shooters. I'm a lifetime member of an indoor range where I live and I've NEVER encountered an unsafe shooter. That's not to say they haven't had some, but it's definitely not most, as you stated. The staff of RSO's do a great job and are very good about picking out the novice or first time shooter. These folks always get their special attention while on the range.
7:30 he literally made a smiley face on the target lol, great group though
OK i have to ask – for the target that was far away – did you intend to make a smiley face or was that coincidence? Either way, nice shots from that distance!
Great info and drills. I'm lucky that the indoor range I shoot at allows both draw and rapid fire, but that said I hardly shoot from the draw there… instead choosing to focus on the fundamentals when I go. Most of my draw practice happens during dry-fire at home.
I noticed that he canted the gun slightly when demonstrating the one handed firing. Should I cant the gun slightly?
That "aim small miss small" demo was legend.
Anyone else catch the "Happy Face" on the aim small/miss small precision drill? Homage to Leathal Weapon? π€£
Thank you sir gonna try these out
Very useful, thank you.

Did he just shoot a smiley face on the bullseye target ππ
useful vid, i shot guns growing up but never any training and bad gun handling was sent down through the generations of my family. after 20ish years of just having guns in my house i have picked up shooting again, taken classes pistol 1 and 2 from a local gun club. found out i have had poor grip for 30 years. and loads of poor habits to break. so guys, get some training first and any pistol second.
My new standard, shoot a smiley face at 25 yards
Great information Karl. Should do the same with a rifle at an indoor range.
This video is crap, slow, boring and has next to zero quality information. You seem cool man, make these better please , cheers . Nick

Thank you for the video. This will make firing at the public range more meaningful.
Coming watch this video after Dicken hit that 40 shot π.
New shooter here, really enjoyed the tips in this video on how to diagnose and correct my shooting. πππ

If you're adjusting your trigger finger to rest optimally on your trigger, isn't this going to adversely affect your grip? I was always taught that your grip comes first and where ever your finger lands, that's where it lands. I would think that for most people this would be true unless you have unusually long or short fingers.

7:32 smiley faceβ¦nice.
Noticed you squint your right eye, are you cross eye dominant as well? If so, any advice. I try to keep both eyes open.
Thank you very much! Great for a guy like me who is just learning to walk.
7:35 Wau that Smile emoji on target on long distance shooting… He is God π
Sir I just want to say thank you for your content you put stuff out here that we the people need to hear and learn so I thank you.
Very helpful drills me and my wife are going to try these five. THANK YOU.
Nice vid man. I can begin to implement this on my next range visit.
The Gallery sportsman club and range in Denver Colorado is awesome. You need to prove yourself to an RO but then you are allowed to draw. Great people and a fun atmosphere
What in-ear ear protection are you using? What do you recommend?
7:34 he drew a smiley face
I love how you teach and show how its done
My man just shot a smiley face on the 2nd drillβ¦
Always looking for ways to improve. Thanks for the tips. Any dry fire drills at home before going to the range?
Unbelievable!! I never knew that some ranges don't allow human silhouette Target!!!!!! That's absolutely unacceptable if I come across one I will never go there!!!!
βYou need to be able to take that 50m shot at that active shooterβ
My man was calling Eli Dickenβs shot 3 years ago
Karl needs to work on his flinch. Lol
