reverse grip all day, honestly if I have to go to the knife, I don't expect to get it back

I would primarly focus on a hammer grip for stabbing. Because you will find medical statistics that conclude that thrusts cause more damage than slashes as the blade is inserted deeper into flesh and vitals, which is also reinforced by your momentum as you are stabbing someone multiple times. Thus, stabs are more dangerous and cause more damage. They are most effective if used offensively.

It's really according to the particulars of the fight situation at a given moment.

Question. Why have a ring handled knife if you don't use the ring?

Neither of those would do you any good in a defensive situation. Are yoi training to be a mugger or something?

Blade should always be held in a foreward grip with the blade edge facing back towards your body so it can still be used while someone is grappling with you.

Unless you have a double edged blade, but those are generally illegal to carry because they are not useful tools for anything other than fighting, so again, what are you preparing for?

Too funny… Two undercover cops in Anchorage Alaska said that NOBODY is taught to use an reverse grip if trained to fight with a knife… Weird part, one was military trained too…

But yet you run a knife with no hand protecti. Understand you're probably a professional and you're practicing all the time. But blades run across blades & you have no hand protection.
