Wrist locks are not a ba all end all part of martial arts…they are not suppose to be used as submissions either…if you do a wrist lock w the same energy you punch with you will dislocate or hyper extend the joint and that will cause damage to tendons and lifaments…when you counter a wrist lock you then open yourself to a strike and that is the real purpose of wristlocks…to open up an opportunity to kill the opponent…it's a destructive form of defang8ng the snake and using multiple levels on the opponent

That's cool, but once in the Brevard County Florida jail I once refused to go back to my cell without a book to read and two jailers grabbed my wrists one on each side and bent both wrist down that way leaving my no choice but to let them walk me wrists bent and in excruciating pain back to me cell. See 1990s jail 📸. THIS STATEMENT IS TRUE. Glennis Dewain Combs.

If the opponent is able to counter your wrist lock, the lock is not applied properly.
Done right, your adversary will be in total pain submission, unable to use the other arm or move the legs.

Of course, anyone can stop a wrist lock from a static position,Gozo shioda said that 90% of Aikido is atemi, wrist locks are used after the opponent has been distracted or it is part of another technique.

If you do it correctly, he doesn't have time to try to counter.

you and your dad know nothing about Aikido, in Kotegaesh, you don't flat the wrist you have to fold the back of the hand and fingers, same as Nikyo wrist lock using the shoulder. Try any Aikido Black belt, he/she can break your wrist in a split second.
