If an attacker pulls a knife or a gun on you, the best self defense response is different depending on the weapon.

The fact you let someone get that close to you with a gun is crazy. If someone has a gun they’re not getting close unless they are deadass going to shoot you, in that case, if you are unarmed, pray or act gay.

Al Pacino taught me in the Irishman, you charge a guy with a gun but always run away from a guy with a knife 😂

25 foot rule, works for either but it is a gun can’t prepare a precise shot without the distance a knife attacker can take you out if he can sprint that 25 feet. In this situation running only opens you up to the gun. But most attacker won’t have both so denim dan just has to outrun and outlast in his run away from the attacker. But if the guy did have a gun as well he has now lost the element of a silent attack and has to risk facing the consequences of his actions. Criminals always fear the consequences of their actions. Well mostly always unless you are in a movie and fighting a random merc on the street who will have both and probably just throw a knife at you on first sight. Remember if it is gonna happen it will happen no matter what and if the attacker is not afraid he would muffle the sound and just shoot you. Happy Friday the 13th

I think for 99% of american men, they need to run from both gun and knife. The average man has zero fightings skills, let alone experience wrestling guns away from hardened criminals. At least when you run from the guy with the gun, there is the chance he won't chase you because he's not a killer but just wants to rob you. But engaging him, while being unarmed and him already having the drop on you ends in you being shot.

Why not just run to both. Shooting a game gun is hard. Harder to shoot a moving target.

Doesn’t matter if you train this every single day, try it with a BB gun with someone actually resisting, you will get shot 9/10 times… give your money and hope you don’t get shot

I don't really see why anybody would think that's Conor intuitive. Guns are meant to be used at distance and knives are meant to be used close up. It couldn't make any more sense to do what you explained.

I think this is bad advice. For one most people aren't marksmen, so if you run right when you see the gun even if they do fire they'll probably miss. Second, if the gunmen is aiming at your chest getting closer is going to make you easier to hit. It takes half the time to shoot someone in the chest then in the head, and unless you know exactly what to do when you get that close running, I think is a much safer option.

9 out of 10 times they start stabbing you as soon as they are near you. They never show the knife or attack from a distance. In all my personal experiences they always attack when they are near you. Learn to keep your distance .
