When it comes to self defense size does matter. Do other factors matter too? Of course. But when it comes to self defense you want to give yourself the best chance of staying safe whether you’re big or small. It comes down to either matching the energy coming at you or knowing how to get around it and make space to get away.

This video is made in collaboration with @BudoBrothers

Only 5’10 high but 4 foot wide and 16 stone I always knock the big one out no one wants to fight after that.(The locals in my pubs call me the brick s#it house and the bouncers surround me when people start it’s funny and I get many free pints lol)

02:44 – 02:57 will this work, will that work? Like geez Louise we're not starting a car here. Put the key in the ignition, turn & hold for sec, & vroom vroom let's go. But if not, then something's broken! Your starter, alternator, belt, etc etc.
So likewise in self defense, if it works 1x but not all the time it's no good.
These mindsets are just 🍌s to me. You nor anyone else is teaching or broadcasting invincibility. You're giving reasonable & realistic options that CAN work & likely have worked before. But man I tell ya, God forbid a martial artist should lose a fight.

As general rule, with a larger opponent, you need to be either at close range or out of range; don't stand in their power zone. A larger opponent has the reach advantage. As a 5'8" man I am not trying to box a 6'4" opponent. In my opinion, shorter people should develop their leg kicks and stand up grappling skills. The idea is to trap the hands and kick the lower body. Just a general thought, a round kick to the inside of the knee/thigh can be very effective, especially with the toe of a shoe. Took a LIGHT toe kick in Uechi one time; it'll make you walk funny.

My experience has been every time I have banged with a taller opponent, I am 5,6 , They always clinch because my head shots are to fast so then I have to resort to a bit of grappling. Thanks for theses informative vids!! πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

In school someone in my class that was 1.95 mabey, (3 years ago don't remember that much) he practice kickboxing and he said to me (1.75) that SIZE DOESN'T MATTER IN A FIGHT and i said it does and he said no.
Like….i don't understand him, only because he is big and can punch and kick he thinks that it doesn't matter.πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
