When out in public having a route planned out and knowing your surroundings is good self defense. I heard about this tip and thought it was a great idea. Let me know what you think int he comments below.

Ok. Let’s recap. You’ve just closed the door so you can then open it again with the hairspray can from your bag. You’re so desperate that you are able to find the doorstop in your bag first, before pulling out that large can.
By the way, hands up all those who know someone that carries a doorstop in their bag. No?
So, following up on the idea (forget the hairspray bit) you DO carry a wallet of some sort. That can act as a doorstop and is variable in thickness; you can take out cards etc from it to fit the gap if you have a few seconds to act. As an added bonus, once the door is open point the attacker’s view to a wallet on the floor …

Should be….Something as Simple as a glock may save your life.
Running into a closable bathroom could be risky if the attacker catches you inside before you close it. You’d be better of getting attacked in the open and have a chance to escape or get heard or seen. Also there is just no way anybody will start carrying a doorstop for this event. The chance of this scenario playing out this way is pretty much zero.

We could do with more public bathrooms as well, in general
Maybe a taser, pepper spray, knife or a gun. Or even a live online broadcast showing his face and location to the public in real time and calling for help to the specific location.
So sad people have to plan for this kind of event, but they do.
