There are many manufacturers of rifles these days and so many of them make great products. That makes choosing the right one for you tricky for some of us. Rather than just going off of someone else’s advice or brand names you may hear of more than others we recommend starting with determining what needs you are faced with in terms of use.

Maxim Defense took on a particular set of uses and started designing their products to excel at those. For applications where size matters (smaller being better in these cases) every inch and ounce make a substantial difference. Think close confined areas; think concealability; austere close protection. The list goes on.

It’s not hard to slap a shorter barrel and handguard on an upper receiver, but the innovation implemented in Maxim Defense’s tools is substantial and practical. More importantly we found them to be reliable, arguably the most important aspect of a tool you would depend on to save your life or the lives of others.

In addition to what we discuss in this video Maxim Defense is innovating in a few other realms, some of which we will present in near future videos.

I've been talking with folks at Maxim Defense. Apparently, there was no real interest for the MD908. The 8" version that is shown here in a carbine. The MD905 is nice, don't get me wrong. It's a beautiful and effective firearm. But, that MD9, for my money, may be superior to the H&K MP5 or the Sig Sauer MPX K. That it takes Glock mags is an especially great selling point.
I've watched this video A LOT more than I will admit. I'm sold on Maxim Defense…and I don't even work for them. Although, I'm less than 5 years off from LE retirement. Maybe I will call them.

I have two Maxim SBR's. Both 5.5" guns, one in 5.56 and the other in 7.62×39. I have mated the 5.56 lower with a FoldAR 9" upper and it is an amazing small footprint / quick response rifle. Imagine fitting a 9" AR with suppressor and 3 mags in a Pelican 1400 case!

You guys ever considered the loss of velocity with barrels that short? I like to stay at/above 2400 fps at the muzzle in a CQB application in 5.56mm. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Love this content, good stuff. Quick note (may have been mentioned already), during the video it was mentioned that other manufacturers are not selling pinned/welded barrel/suppressor combos to avoid 2 tax stamps, as far as they are aware. Daniel Defense has the ISR that is the same idea. Anyone know of any other companies doing this?

I have the 300 blackout. I love it. Never had an issue with the gun only some 300 blkout ammo which as expensive as it is it should work. 😂 I am trying to get the suppressor and stock now. mine was the pistol set up after they removed the braces 😢I did get a great deal though bought it second hand at my local shop guy needed money he just bought a farm so I basically paid half what they are online. Glad you made this video about them

Can you use the Hate Break in longer barrels like 14.5 or 16", what would be the behavior compared with micro barrels.

Is that Brandon Herrera doing a cameo I see? How did you bribe him to touch an AR? 🤣

What I wouldn't do to get my poor hands on a 7.62 version. Not only for the gun, but for the right to tell people my home defense weapon has a hate break. Mmm.

I wish they had an option for a slimmer profile handguard for the 5” version. It looks a little to beefy.

In my opinion, if I'm gonna have a Rifle platform, it will be in a Rifle Caliber.
Pistol Calibers are for Pistol frames.

Funny how he neglected to mention the fact that attaching a suppressor to your Maxim Defense AR pistol/sbr COMPLETELY VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY.
