True, also missing the target with a spin kick may leave you exposed and really close to your enemy.

I like the way you do it as that type of Side Kick generates lots of Hip Power .
Crossing the back leg behind the kicking leg just before kicking brings the power of the hips into it . ( Like a Bruce Lee kick )
I also learned The Tae Kwon Do Type kick which is faster but not quite as powerfull .
Where you basicly hop the rear foot up to replace where the kicking foot is and then kick .
My Sifu was The Late Master Ting Fong Wong of The Golden Dragon Fighting Society .
Keep up the Good Videos .

I disagree its hard to throw! Set it up with a double jab or a 1,2.
Bring the rear foot right next to or just behind the lead foot, just after the 2nd punch. As you pull that 2nd punch launch the side kick.

Go on the defense to get your opponent moving toward you. Block or dodge 1 or 2 shots, then raise your front hand to draw their attention upward, then πŸ’₯, the centerline is open.

I can execute a side kick in less than 3/10 second, much faster than roundhouse, turning kick, even front kick if you are in fighting stance… A quick sidekick can be used anytime you want, especially right to the attackers femur, knee, or the widest target, mid section

Key sentence "a lot of training". If you're not training at least 3 days a week I'd seriously avoid kicks in a street fight. I've seen a few kicks go bad in that situation. Didn't turn out well.
