Sadr city uprising (‘08) was hell. Our unit averaged a medevac every 4 hours around the clock from March-May 2008. I don’t think any platoon had the same men in May that they started with in March. I would have loved having a mini gun but our ROE in the AO changed from counter insurgency to conventional warfare and we made it quiet within a few weeks after that. For the uninitiated, in counter insurgency basically you can’t engage unless fired upon, decisions are made that are meant to preserve infrastructure and keep collateral damage to people and property to a minimum. In conventional warfare everything is on the table to end an enemy position. Air, close air support, artillery, maybe there’s a tank or Bradley nearby, etc., but that’s when it’s okay to cut the building out from under them as opposed to trying to use small arms and its a huge difference on which side takes casualties and teaches the enemy FAFO fairly quickly.
There is a dart blaster version of this. Living in Europe, it's the only way to experience shooting with such a thing without having to join the military. Why, yes, it won every nerf battle and now nobody wants to come over for another game
