If the gun was actually thinner than I would choose it but in some places there is a round cap unfortunately.
I have a 30 super carry, and I like it. I know there are strong opinions about new calibers, but the guys who say "I'm not going to give up my 9mm" are missing the point. No one is saying "Give up your 9 for the 30." The fact is, if the 30 is a viable defense caliber, then ADD it to your collection! More is always better!
Only reason to go 30sc is if you are not able to magdump 9mm accurately.
It is interesting how hard it is to introduce a new cartridge I guess the standard calibers 380 9mm 45acp are so well established. I am really surprised how the 40 s&w is dieing off it is perfect for law enforcement. I really notice how conservative people in the gun culture are I make that reference to accepting a new round. Very interesting. The 9mm is so perfect for semi and full automatic weapons tapered cartridge small size but powerful very high pressure. I remember going into a gun store in the early 70s and asking to look at a 9mm pistol. I hot dirty looks statements like why would you want that little bitty 115 grain bullet aren't you an american.practically shamed out of the store. Interesting!
You get same or more capacity with most micro 9s on the market now. I would be open to this caliber if it was on a better gun

The gun market is flooded with guns, there aren’t really anything improve upon so what can you do? Make an optimized caliber for carry and self defense, this is pretty the only route left, I’m not surprised and it’s about time, 30 sc is a great idea carry more rounds no more recoil than 9mm and when it comes to logistics it’s basically as a carry caliber so it may not be prolific as 9mm but it’s optimized for more rounds in the same size frame
Also, .30 super carry is years too late. The current generation of shooter doesn’t care about ballistics. And anyone that does care about ballistics would never trade a couple extra rounds for effectiveness. Doesn’t make sense. .30 super carry is DOA. They should have never even wasted the time or effort.
When it comes to guns there’s guys that know ballistics and then there’s guys like this that don’t understand ballistics or anything about it. It’s great they’re doing this video. It gives us SOME information. But these dudes don’t know ballistics. Take that for what it’s worth.
Thank you for the review. I could really see this as a carbine round. I was curious about the 30 SC, that is why I went to this review.
So, 30 SC has over penetration? Cool.
This screaming guy… oh my…
I have a shield plus in 30 sc. Im hoping it survives. I think its a good round.
Cost? Anyone remember the 357 Sig round?
I'm using 30 always for self-defense it's amazing caliber and most deadly
8 rounds to 10 rounds..25 percent? 🤔🤔🤔
LOL, I bet you really started a fight by saying the 30SC hit harder than the 9mm. 🙂 I'm really looking forward to more guns being offered in 30SC.
The TLDR, using Shield Plus as an example:
9 mm, roughly 25 cents a round (Aug 2023), Shield Plus 13 rounds stock.
30 SC, roughly 60 cents a round (Aug 2023), Shield Plus holds 16 rounds stock.
Currently at the same store (PSA), Shield Plus 9 mm is $570, Shield Plus 30 SC is $452
That means a savings of $118, which you can spend on 196 rounds of 30 SC ammunition. After that, it's cheaper to use the 9 mm.
So, which is better? Could go either way, 3 factors are in play, one has larger capacity, slightly less stopping power, and lower initial cost with higher long term costs, the other has smaller capacity, slightly more stopping power, and higher initial costs with lower long term costs. I can't say which is better, but if you are looking for a carry gun and already have other guns to shoot at the range for fun, I think I'd choose the 30 SC, bc in a life or death situation, number of rounds to me matters more than size of the round and cost of the round.
30,super,is,a,30,magnum
30 SC: chamber pressure 50,000 psi (vs 35000 psi of 9mm), therefore more rapid throat erosion; more expensive than 9mm; less availability; fewer choices of guns chambered for this round (may take a long time to change). Definitely not for filling the gap between 9mm and .380. Ballistically may have a slight edge over 9mm, depends on the load. I am skeptical of this round. Reminds me of 40 S&W.
If FN or sig made a 30 super carry I may get it.
.30 Super Carry, or as we call it: 5/16 ACP. When we go to the range and let someone else shoot it, I always have a hard time getting it back.
Какой ужас 😮🤢🤮🤯…сколько ненужного пиздежа…..
If Glock is not making a pistol for it! Then this caliber is not going anywhere. Even then I wouldn't personally purchase it because I have a lot of 9mm, some .380, .38spl and .40 I don't need another handgun cartridge.
You guys don't see this as a cash grab by ammo manufacturers to get people to buy more new guns and different ammo?
If this was a bottlenecked cartridge I would be interested. Federal missed a perfect opportunity to bottleneck a .30 caliber pistol cartridge.
