Ok, TR Nation, simple video for you today. But remember it’s the simple stuff that we most often screw up.

This video is only sort of about the target. What I want you to take away from this is what you are supposed to be doing with this target…and you can use a lot of other types of targets to do it.

The target used int he video can be found here: https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/at-208-pt-hostage.asp

Handguns suck at killing stuff! You need fast, well placed hits and a bunch of them to win a gunfight. But you also need to pull that speed all the way back and place one well aimed shot exactly where it needs to go. And you need to be able to make that transition in speed seamlessly and instantly.

Last thing…I don’t want to hear about the holster. It was brand new and not mounted at the angle I wanted. Muscle memory…it’s a bitch. See? The easy stuff will get you every time!

Good video Coach! O just want to know more about safety when shooting steele, can you prepare a video on this subject? I have a friend of mine who lost his sight with a ricochette at a shooting range, and this made me quite distrustful of using steele. Thanks again, keep fighting!

I have seen these and I am looking to make my own. I have seen them at expensive prices. So spring time dig out the welder and get some plate and make some targets.

Agreed. Targets like these allow someone to practice different shooting situations. I use cardboard a lot since I get a lot of it for free, but I never see any one at the range practice on hostage targets. Most think it never happens, but I'd rather have the practice just in case and know for a fact my point of aim to point of impact.

I recently purchased on ebay a two headed hostage target for 174.99. When hit, the smaller orange head (5" diameter) swivels to the target's cut out mid section, and back again slightly below the left shoulder when hit. The right side red head (6" diameter) when hit over the right shoulder, swivels outward. Very challenging. I get a great workout. Pricey, but I got my money's worth.

I wait for flys to land on my target then watch them explode when I shoot them. Lol

Coach doesn't repaint the steel target. He scrubs the lead splatter off with his fabulous goatee.

Keep up the great work my friends.

I just ordered a similar setup. I will have both a 6" circle and a "T-Box" to use on a steel target I already own.
