Ok, TR Nation, simple video for you today. But remember it’s the simple stuff that we most often screw up.
This video is only sort of about the target. What I want you to take away from this is what you are supposed to be doing with this target…and you can use a lot of other types of targets to do it.
The target used int he video can be found here: https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/at-208-pt-hostage.asp
Handguns suck at killing stuff! You need fast, well placed hits and a bunch of them to win a gunfight. But you also need to pull that speed all the way back and place one well aimed shot exactly where it needs to go. And you need to be able to make that transition in speed seamlessly and instantly.
Last thing…I don’t want to hear about the holster. It was brand new and not mounted at the angle I wanted. Muscle memory…it’s a bitch. See? The easy stuff will get you every time!

Thank you.
You shot his shoulder poor steel hostage 😂
why is he looking at his holster to reholster??? You should know where that thing is and keep your eyes on your threat
Gig 'em Aggies.
Good video Coach! O just want to know more about safety when shooting steele, can you prepare a video on this subject? I have a friend of mine who lost his sight with a ricochette at a shooting range, and this made me quite distrustful of using steele. Thanks again, keep fighting!
Excellent my friend.
Awesome as always
I have seen these and I am looking to make my own. I have seen them at expensive prices. So spring time dig out the welder and get some plate and make some targets.
Can someone tell me the type of holster that is? I know it is safariland, but model number?
Agreed. Targets like these allow someone to practice different shooting situations. I use cardboard a lot since I get a lot of it for free, but I never see any one at the range practice on hostage targets. Most think it never happens, but I'd rather have the practice just in case and know for a fact my point of aim to point of impact.
I recently purchased on ebay a two headed hostage target for 174.99. When hit, the smaller orange head (5" diameter) swivels to the target's cut out mid section, and back again slightly below the left shoulder when hit. The right side red head (6" diameter) when hit over the right shoulder, swivels outward. Very challenging. I get a great workout. Pricey, but I got my money's worth.
When shooting a round plate of still is no longer good enough… Think I'm going over to Craig's List and find me a welding machine. hooo-ahh
I wait for flys to land on my target then watch them explode when I shoot them. Lol
That is a cool looking target. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome!
Very nice triple tap bro
Not to nitpick, but it's Corps of Cadets. Still a great video!
I want 5. 😁
Coach doesn't repaint the steel target. He scrubs the lead splatter off with his fabulous goatee.
Do you have a website or link to purchase the target?
I love how you have your CAT attached to your belt. Great idea that doesn't cost much at all.
Anyone know what Coach Kevin's background is? Military, LEO, …?
I always watch you’re guys videos especially when I’m pooping
Great peice of info!! I will be looking at making one of theses for my training.
The race car analogy is spot on. You're combining two loves of my life – everything automotive and the 2A community. Well done Coach Jimmerson!
Keep up the great work my friends.
Trying to decide which piece of steel I must have; Coach, or Carl….
Decisions decisions…
Good video! Excellent points!
I wish he’d explain what the drill is to practice those throttle control drills… guess I’ll have to come to one of your classes 👍🏻
I have damn near the identical pistol setup, I want that holster. Safariland? What model?
I just ordered a similar setup. I will have both a 6" circle and a "T-Box" to use on a steel target I already own.
