Before you ask, my personal IFAK pouch, Body Armor and War Belt are made by ATS Tactical Gear, check them out at http://atstacticalgear.com . They were kind enough to offer Tactical Rifleman viewers a 5% discount off all their products; just use promo code: tacr5
Tactical Rifleman did a video several months ago on how to setup your Body Armor. In that video we covered just the basics, because that is all you really need. Keep your kit simple, carrying only what you need.
This plate carrier shown in this video is made by ATS: http://atstacticalgear.com/
While many viewers liked the first video, there were several that bitched that I had too much shit on my armor. When you look at my kit in that video, it’s going to look like I’ve got shit slung everywhere randomly. That is because I was required to carry a lot of extra “special Equipment.” There were shotgun shells for when carrying a shorty breaching shotgun, and pouches for flashbangs and door charges. Trust me, there is a method to the madness.
That said, I guess for the local guy at home (which needs body armor?) they just wanted to see how to set up a basic set of armor. So, that brings us to this video. We cover… again, just the basics, as that is all you really need.
Once you have your kit setup the way you want it; immediately go out and do PT wearing it. Go climb a wall, or better yet, go run an obstacle course. Go climb behind the steering wheel of a HUMMER. Go to the shooting range and try some transition drills. You may find that one of your pouches, while perfect standing in front of a mirror, actually interferes with you climbing or drawing your pistol. Find what works and what doesn’t. Then, fix and adjust those pouches, and try it again. Can you shoot, move, and communicate with your current gear setup? If not, fix it now; before your life depends on it.
We can talk fine details all day long; what-if it to death, and never get all operators to agree. Bottom-line is 35 pounds of lightweight kit is still 35 pounds. So, keep it light, keep it simple, and only carry what you need. Strength & Honor, TR.

good quick and thorough. Thanks. Hope I never have to use it.
how do you attach pouches to your body armor. velcro? hooks? I need to know to not waste money
I dont think youll ever be in a situation where you might "trip and land upside down" and if you do, youre fucked. I have never heard anyone ever say "I wish I brought less ammo with me!" And with that being said, I love this channel, appreciated the good information for all of you knuckle heads. Be safe out there, wherever you are.
Thanks for the informative video Karl. Question, if you run your rifle mags on your front plate which way do your rounds point? Away from your strong hand or towards? Thanks again.
Why plates are so small?
Quick question I ran a double mag pouch on the side two Molly away from the front. I found it hard to access it fast. Does the triple work well in high stress situations? Thank you.
I always make sure I have a water source on my rig
Thank you sir!
Where do you get your plates from
question I'm arguing with the SOP for the proper placement. the SOP wants us to place the ifak on our left side of the IOTV what if I find a soldier in the recovery position on the ground laying on his/her left side? would it make sense to have it on the back between 5 and 7 o'clock so you can reach it with both hands (incase one arm is incapacitated) what if the soldier is shooting left handed and can't reach the ifak to the left? would you recommend placing it to the rear on the battle belt or vest? The ifak we are using is a rip-away. It has tabs on both sides to grab and rip
Not sure if you guys made a vid on how to put own and adjust body armor. But would like to see exactly how to put on and adjust. I know the basics but would like to see how to really fine tune adjust. Strap's ect.. would like to see all BDU fine adjustment s for ultimate fit and dependability, performance.. boots, BDU pants, upper wear, all the way to glove's. Thanks.
1000% 🇺🇸

That giant ring is a degloving hazard
Lol… In Cali you need 9 mags to hit your round count.
Are you still running the clean front on your plate carrier?
Friggin outstanding!
Another great video by a true professional who actually knows what they are talking about becuase they lived it instead of reading about it in a book or taking a class. Im a 21 year Military vet who wasnt always in the rear with the gear and I am still learning little tips and tricks here and there from this channel!
Simple and straight-forward. 👍
