When you look at our training pyramid, we start with Accuracy, then Manipulation, then top off the pyramid with Combat Mindset. Yes, Combat Mindset is important, just like manipulations of your weapons; but both are worthless on the battlefield if you can’t hit what you are shooting at. So, we are very big on Accuracy. That includes with a pistol.
So, this week I want to share a few tips on how to be accurate with a red dot equipped pistol at longer distances. Specifically, how to center your pupil behind the pistol every time.
I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching, and Merry Christmas. TR.

If you shot less than 33 yards use stones or throw arowes firarms are rangened woepens
Great advise. Thank you.
Sir till how many metres range for u shoot
Good information, not only for long range but also good for sighting in the red dot at shorter ranges.
I can hit soda cans at 70m with my PSA Dagger or my 2011. It's all in the fundamentals.
do you sometimes shoot with both eyes open?
woo-hoo 😅
Talking to a guy the other day claims he saw a member of "Delta Force" pull a pistol and pop a target 3 times in a row from 250 meters, with a 9mm using a red dot. I find this very hard to believe. Can anyone say definitively if this is actually possible? At that range being off by 1/100th of a single degree in aim or twist and you would miss. I'm not sure anything less than a robot could be that precise.
Terrific video. Just bought one for my Walther PDP Pro. Ill try it out. Thank you
This is the most SERIOUS and UTILITARIAN gun (tactical) channel on youtube. It's just great. I'm a big believer in having full knowledge of the CAPACITY of one's weapon — and of practicing to be able to utilize that capacity. Decent, modern defensive pistols are capable of aimed hits at 200 yards, and if you're going to own and carry one, you ought to have done at least some work at long distances — there IS the possibility that it could make all the difference. And you've done a GREAT JOB in showing the utility of the ACSS Vulcan reticle in that regard. I so deeply appreciate every video you've done. Thanks.
I love how he missed that shot and paused asif the bullet was really slow. Then he changed up the whole direction he was goin. Nice work.
What yards do I zero my red dot ?
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but my I always shoot to the left slightly. I’m assuming it has something to do with my trigger pull. Any ideas? Let me know
I'm teaching my daughter everything you are teaching. I'm saving up now to fly her to do your courses.
NPA, NPA, NPA! NPA drills are critical to shoot pistol or rifle accurately
What crap stick that red dot back and get your money back. This other guy on you tube couldn't hit crap with it either and he was very close!!!!! UTSA gimmick just crap. I used red dot on my compound bow 20 years ago it sucked I put my beads back on it.
Is the "dotting the i" with the irons and RDS still possible with irons that are very low BUIS? I have like a lower 7/8 cowitness just to keep the irons out of the optic window as much as possible.
Ya know some people even say 6 inches is too much..
I was having trouble with this exact thing this Sunday at the range. Thank you for the knowledge transfer brother!
LITERALLY one of the best Red Dot / retical pistol optic videos on the internet.
I have been debating myself for weeks and months about which Red Dot to get, green dot, etc… I'm going with the Vulcan. And I'm only going to put it on one of my 10mm Elites… not all my pistols.
First draw? Iron Sights on the 3.8 Elite 10mm, backed up by the 4.5-in. Elite with the Vulcan.
Why 10MikeMike? 500+ Ft-Lbs… can't argue with hp.
Awesome I just purchased a red dot 🔴
I love when the "v" is on top of my post.
i always think of Norm Mcdonald when i see this guy
Excellent info. Thanks
nice work
Thanks
Great video, u ever wanna hit targets like a pro watch this guy n learn… Visually and hands on…
No bullet drop at 100 yards ? I’m thinking of getting holosun for my mr920. I’m thinking 25 yards zero. If I was to put 25 yard. Zero. On the front sight post at 100 yards. With there be bullet drop ? Would I have to up hold. Up to any one with input thank you
And let's be clear…it's not as easy as he makes it look, he's darn dangerous with that tool 😂😂😂
I've watched quite a few guys teaching wepon discipline but, I really like your style…
Excellent block of instruction! I love the logo! Nous Defions
ODA 711
Doesn’t that concept kinda defeat the single plane / target focus benefits of a dot?
Why would I zero at 100 for my pistol? It's a pistol
The round climbs a little bit???
Is there a specific ammo that performs better at 100 yards? I’m using a Glock 9mm and 10mm.
I see you walk the talk. Enjoy your video, thanks!
🔝🔝👌👌💯👍👏👏
Is it better to use ball ammo or hollow points when shooting at long range with a pistol?
Excellent information I've heard nowhere else. Thank you for the video 🙂 glad I found it when I did. Now all I need is to win the lottery so I can get more ammo to practice. Social security sucks when you don't have another source of income.
Take a shot when he says literally
If Christopher Walken were a gun instructor! Great video thank you for sharing.
Ok…. so I’m an engineer by trade… I geeked out one night with a ballistics calculated after I saw Shawn Ryan’s 36 yard combat zero video for ARs. Got me thinking what zero on a Glock red dot gives you the flattest trajectory out to 100 yards??? I was very surprised at the results. I tested them IRL and it worked, at least for me.
I mainly use 124gr PMC for my Glock 19 and Glock 17. After chrono’ing the bullets and finding their BC, I plugged in all the data and found that a 7 yard zero is flattest out to 100 yards.
Here is what I came up with…
7 yard zero = +2.5 inches @ 50 yards, -2.22 inches at 100 yards, -8 in @ 125, -16 @ 150
If you zero to 25 yards with 124gr PMC FMJ, you are about -10 inches at 100 yards. If you aim center mass you will catch the bottom of the silhouette target.
I went to my my rifle range which has paper out to 30 and steel at 50, 75 and 100. With the 7 yard zero it really worked, I just put the dot center mass and I was always roughly within 2~3 inches of where I put the dot on the steel. It is pretty cool. Such a nerd moment for me at the range! Hahahaha
Why is this important to me? Man, trying to zero a pistol at any distance out past 12 or 15 yards IS HARD!!! I can’t even see where I’m hitting. I have to rent a spotting scope or try and use binoculars and Jerry rig a bench rest for the pistol to keep it still and somewhat repeatable. Zeroing at 7 yards is much easier.
One caveat, the ideal zero can vary a lot based on the bullet ballistic coefficient, velocity and height over bore. So YMMV a lot!
Karl has a comfortable and relaxed demeanor which allows the student to do the same. That's the mark of a great teacher
Good video.Yup it's possible.I tried two mags from my Glock 43 at 100 yards at a B27 and put 8 of 13 on the target. 7 were good center hits. I don't know what shots hit when, maybe I got a different sight picture when I changed mags? With my eyes sight picture is a joke anyhow, they are a nearly complete blur!
