Interesting that you would say a "Long Gun" is a better choice than a handgun. A Shotgun is in between. I don't consider it a long gun. It's as accurate at close range like a handgun but, can clear a couple of faces from the map properly dispensed.
That said, if the cops saw this happening they would immediately draw their sidearms. Pointing a firearm isn't a "Right" solely given to Government Officials.
Yep, just had a concealed carry class, in my state it’s illegal to use deadly force to protect property. The shotgun would have gotten him into big trouble here. Hopefully he knew the laws where he lives (they said Texas) and he was ok legally!

I think all the comments on “it’s stuff, and they are taking it from me” are missing the point…The criminal activity is committing a crime, and taking stuff that does not belong to them. It’s not just the stuff, it’s the crime.
