i remember i was getting a ride home from my 70 year old boss, a cement mixer managed to reverse into my bosses suv then drive off at a stop sign, my boss followed of course to try and get insurance details and when the guy finally pulled over was very aggressive and angry though i had stayed in the suv with my window crack, when i heard the 30 ish year old driver yell "want me to knock your old ass out bitch?" my 6'2" ass got out of the suv and walked up to him politely informing him "we are on a bridge above traffic if you lay a hand on him you wont be on this bridge any more, so hand over your insurance information and get in the truck or go over that rail and not get up" he started stammering and stuttering saying shit like "i was just angry and venting i wasn't going to hit him" my response was "i vent more physically so do what i say before im the angry one." he wisely did then left on his way, if he hadn't threatened my elderly boss i would have fully stayed out of it but when he did i really did want to just throw him over that railing no warning given, the kind of person who wants to threaten a old man deserves to feel like the weak coward they are.
I a South African and the police would take a very long time to arrive and you are not allowed to you lethal force unless he had a weapon that could be used/seen as lethal intent. He might have gotten away with shooting in self defense but probably not

If you have to shoot someone shouldn't you say you stopped the threat rather than say you shot the guy?
He's lucky he only lost his job, elderly dude would have been justified in shooting him once he opened the passenger door.
Remember, if a road rager ain't willing or able to escalate a verbal confrontation into physical or deadly violence using traditional means like their fists or hand-held tools, they still have a 2+ ton bullet at their disposal. Only ever de-escalate until that is no longer a viable option.
If you're in a car of your own, it becomes your most useful tool as long as it's operable. Don't care about the perp's well-being once they start attacking and use your car to stay out of the danger zone if it all possible. If they get bruised or injured as a result, that's on them at that point.
