So, I got me a new AK-47 from KalashUSA!!!. Problem is that it needs to be zeroed. That’s when it dawned on my that we haven’t done a video yet on zeroing an AK? Chad, go get your camera…
This week I want to talk about how I was taught to Zero the Iron sights on an AK-47 rifle. Yes, I know a lot of people are gonna bitch, that there are other ways to zero your AK. Yep, there are. However, the technique that I’m going to show you today is how I was taught by the 18 Bravo Weapons guy on my first A-Team. This is the technique that we used on every trip that involved teaching indigenous forces overseas that carried AK-47s. It works.
Could you do it at 100 meters, with the sight set on 1? Yep, but most military bases don’t have 100 meters rifle ranges. However, all bases have 25 meter ranges, including air force bases, for their security forces to zero their weapons. So, a 25 meter zero is a better technique for us.
What about red dot optics on AKs? Zero them as you would for any other red dot mounted on a 7.62x39mm. This technique applies only to iron sights.
Special thanks to this week’s sponsor, Sonoran Desert Institute, for their continued support. If you guys haven’t already, you should check out Sonoran Desert Institute.

The AK47 and AR15 sight radius are roughly the same. Stop misinformation!
I’m curious about the ak 9MM rear sights and what those numbers are set to.
The pinched case wonderful how many times I’ve tried to get my little pliers in there and scraped off the color.
Explained well for average Joe which is best I'd bet for 90% of your viewers. Thanks.
I got lucky!! mine was dead on out of the box!! My first ever!! Usually there not!
push up less 6,little girl arm even.all the point:骨骼结构。
would these same rules apply to a Saiga 308 (put on 2 and zero at 25 yards)?
Love my pallmetto 762×39 ar platform do you have any if not you should try they are flawless
Where does this info about 250 m battle sight setting come from? In soviet AKM manuals its 300 m…
Whattttt…?????. You taught people how to zero an Ak????? No wounder we lost.
It’s akmi not ak 47
Great videos, glad I found your channel. BTW, My Dad was also Retired SF SGM, Vietnam era Mateo "ACE" Bello A-109. Take care!
Looked like you were tightening clockwise and threw me off
I just buy old parts kit builds. My last was a type 3 1960 polish milled receiver build with a chf barrel. Just shot it at 200 yards last weekend, with the barrel being non chrome lined it was very consistent.
Will the graduations still be somewhat calibrated with this technique?
Great content. Clear and easy explanation.
AK47 is better than AR15
They are not part of kalasnikov concern. They make an ok ak, they recently had some very serious issues. Zpap is a much better option.
Edit
How to zero an ak-47
At 100 yards you should be 6" down the bullseye. And that will help you shoot up to 300 yards without moving the right sight.
talks too much like a salesman not marine
Alright back to the drawing board after watching this
Why can’t you sight in on 0 then go 100 yards to make my back sight drop at 100 my sights are pretty on 2 on my 0 mark?
I own a new century bft47 and a Zastava zpapm70 hogue. I don't have 20 20 vison so im gonna need a scope or red dot and suggestions?
Hey, seem very knowledgeable. Do you provide training classes?
Darn good stuff.
it’s now my third fourth video about zeroing an aK and no one really explains why I should zeroed at 200 setting instead of the 100 or the rear setting
Goto AK Operators Union and Rob Ski has a simple, Did I say Simple? Yes simple way to zero your ak first at 10 yards, then 25 and Shows you, how to adjust your front sight and rear sight. You will be surprised how simple it is. Your 25 zero will be good at 100, 200, and even 300yards. Rob shows this in a form that you will appreciate. Not taking anything away from what Tactical Rifleman is showing. There is always another option to learn from and AKOU is a goto.
Question. So when u get it zeroed in @ 25 yds with rear sight set @ 200m.. shooting anything less than 100m needs to be set on the Letter your AK comes with? Is that correct? Also, if im shooting @ 100 yds i should set my rear sight closest to 100 yds which would be 100m, right?
What would you zero it at with a . 308 AK with 175g surplus ammo?
Just went to sight in my ak today I fucked up then found this video gonna try it again tommrow
His name was Mikhail Kalashnikov
Camera work is lazy here men. Make a video, get the adjustments close up. Sorry
What ammo are you using?
I picked up my Zpap M70 on Tuesday. I plan on taking her out during my lunch break to 0. Thanks for this training instruction. I'm sure it will help a lot.
