How to zero a AK 47 | Tactical Rifleman

So, I got me a new AK-47 from KalashUSA!!!. Problem is that it needs to be zeroed. That’s when it dawned on my that we haven’t done a video yet on zeroing an AK? Chad, go get your camera…

This week I want to talk about how I was taught to Zero the Iron sights on an AK-47 rifle. Yes, I know a lot of people are gonna bitch, that there are other ways to zero your AK. Yep, there are. However, the technique that I’m going to show you today is how I was taught by the 18 Bravo Weapons guy on my first A-Team. This is the technique that we used on every trip that involved teaching indigenous forces overseas that carried AK-47s. It works.

Could you do it at 100 meters, with the sight set on 1? Yep, but most military bases don’t have 100 meters rifle ranges. However, all bases have 25 meter ranges, including air force bases, for their security forces to zero their weapons. So, a 25 meter zero is a better technique for us.

What about red dot optics on AKs? Zero them as you would for any other red dot mounted on a 7.62x39mm. This technique applies only to iron sights.

Special thanks to this week’s sponsor, Sonoran Desert Institute, for their continued support. If you guys haven’t already, you should check out Sonoran Desert Institute.

The AK47 and AR15 sight radius are roughly the same. Stop misinformation!

I just buy old parts kit builds. My last was a type 3 1960 polish milled receiver build with a chf barrel. Just shot it at 200 yards last weekend, with the barrel being non chrome lined it was very consistent.

They are not part of kalasnikov concern. They make an ok ak, they recently had some very serious issues. Zpap is a much better option.

At 100 yards you should be 6" down the bullseye. And that will help you shoot up to 300 yards without moving the right sight.

Goto AK Operators Union and Rob Ski has a simple, Did I say Simple? Yes simple way to zero your ak first at 10 yards, then 25 and Shows you, how to adjust your front sight and rear sight. You will be surprised how simple it is. Your 25 zero will be good at 100, 200, and even 300yards. Rob shows this in a form that you will appreciate. Not taking anything away from what Tactical Rifleman is showing. There is always another option to learn from and AKOU is a goto.

Question. So when u get it zeroed in @ 25 yds with rear sight set @ 200m.. shooting anything less than 100m needs to be set on the Letter your AK comes with? Is that correct? Also, if im shooting @ 100 yds i should set my rear sight closest to 100 yds which would be 100m, right?
