Just saying it’s good to try and stop the perp. But isn’t there a code or something, like what if those shots hit a civilian or did property damage to someone else’s car or something?

If I'm wrong someone educate me, but I feel I seen a big mistake here, the man started running and the officer decided to turn his back to the other male as he begin to chase him, now considering the first male had a gun, what goes to say the 2nd one didn't have one too, and could have shot the officer, what is an officer supposed to do in situations of 2 people but only 1 runs?
