Not smart or legal but well deserving.
The mental block you mention here, for shooting through a vehicle window, might not be a mental block. Imagine you're an armed carjacker. Imagine you shoot through a vehicle window, 1 or more times, and kill or harm the driver. Now you're guilty of a much worse crime than armed robbery. Now you have a body, dead or alive, to dispose of, after you've just attracted attention with at least 1 loud gun shot. Now you have a vehicle with blood in plain sight, probably where you are going to sit. Now you have glass everywhere in the vehicle, and most of it is likely also where you are going to sit. You might have bullet holes inside the vehicle. The blood, glass and any bullet holes make the vehicle easy for police to identify. All those things make your stolen vehicle much more of a problem for you and for whoever you might try to sell it to. I suspect most armed carjackers don't want that much trouble.

May not be smart in the short term but I have to say, criminals are encouraged to continue to being criminals when they feel that people in general don't fight back. There are long terms sacrifices one makes if there is never consequences.
What if he was worried that they are gonna chase him on the bike and try agin? Or they might have been going to follow and wait for them to be in traffic and have no place to go
The Kenyan one – they are SO lucky that those bandits didn't have guns. The outcome would have been very different as they would not have hesitated to open up. Or they would have shot out the tires as they took off. The scary thing is the road is so bad that they cannot go fast. Thank goodness they were in a tough vehicle as ASP said. The Mexican incident – you can tell just how sick and tired citizens are there of these damn gangsters. That driver has just had enough. I agree with ASP that it was unwise to put himself in harms way twice but it was SO good to watch. I'm just sad the two perps didn't get their legs crushed. Wanted to see them lying on sidewalk howling in agony as people walked by and kicked them.

unfortunately, we have laws in my country specifically stating that using a car against someone who is attacking you using guns or knives is an AGGRAVATING Circumstance that will count against your plea of Self Defence.
We have strict gun laws, strict knife laws, strict bow laws. But the laws doesnt stop the drug syndicates, rich people having armed armies, Islamic terrorists having guns, and Communist terrorists from having guns. If they attack you and you dared to run them over with your car, YOU will go to prison.
Its more fun in the Philippines.
Maybe not smart unless you’re thinking about future victims and the likelihood that these guys will reoffend unless they are taught a lesson.
For the sake of safety of our family members, especially our children, check everyone's car to make sure the 'auto unlock' feature is NOT on. With some vehicles, including some that are over 15 years old, you can choose to have the doors unlock when you put it in park. Terrible option to have on your car!

I think the reverse and hitting them was actually smart because what if they were going after him you were still at risk for a second time so he eliminated the threat.
