Navy SEAL Reviews The Vortex Crossfire | Tactical Rifleman

My favorite source for Night Vision, Thermal Imaging, Riflescopes and Lasers – https://www.nightvisionguys.com/

This week on Tactical Rifleman I show you guys a recent piece of kit I got to play with, The Vortex Crossfire 2 MOA red dot sight. Full disclosure, this is an unpaid review of this sight coming from a guy who came up in the Teams using mainly Aimpoint, EOTech, and ELCAN optics on all of my weapons system which consisted of my M-4 and a SCAR-Heavy. I honestly was just looking for a reliable, accurate, and affordable 2 MOA red dot sight to use on my personal instructor demonstration rifle. I am cross-eye dominant and my vision is not getting any better with age and I was having a hard time picking up my holographic sight so I decided to pick up a red dot. . I am going to tell you, I was not disappointed.

I go through a few silly trials in the video but bottom line up front, the sight sighted in very quickly and accurately and confirmed nuts on at 100 yards. Additionally, the price point of this particular optic made it that I wouldn’t lose my sh@t if the thing got banged up a bit on the range. I originally came across Vortex optics on the site GOVX.COM (not affiliated with TR in any way) where military and LEO can get a login with a .mil or .gov account and get “discounted” prices on all kinds of kit. You can pick up this sight just south of $150.

I hope you guys enjoy the video as many of our loyal followers have been asking about what we like to shoot with and the training team at Tactical Rifleman has lots of range time, connections and opportunities to test out some kit. If there is something you want us to review, please let us know. Until then, thanks a lot for watching and Stay Violent, my friends!! Jason

I have the same problem with any red dot. I have small cataracts that distort the shape of the red dot., It bends the light around and projects odd shaped dots on my retina. I Simply use the same portion of the dot as the aiming point. I have perfect vision through my left eye and wondered why until my eye doctor explained it to me. Now I know.

I got 2 years ago for my patrol rifle, have had in setting 8 out of 11 since I opened the box, haven’t changed the battery yet, still going strong. If you’re careful you can stop the dial between settings to turn it off 🙂

Brother, your word is good enough. You don't have to do any tests. I know when I buy vortex I can buy with confidence.

I went through 3 of these in 2 years. I agree that the red dot is sharp, and the glass quality is excellent, but the optic build quality itself is junk. Thankfully Vortex has a lifetime warranty on their stuff. That's probably the only plus I'd give for someone looking into buying this product.

I own this sight and I do have a bit of astigmatism and lookin through the rear aperture brought that dot back to a perfect dot. I've had reflex sights that work really well but I'm not sure I want to go back to my holosun 510c. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd love to hear how well it's holding up for everyone who's had this sight for a while. I had a Vortex Sparc that crapped out so I sent it to them and they sent me a new one. The new one crapped out as well so I tossed it. Hopefully you all find this one is more reliable.

Trust your opinion, one drawback, made in china. Always pay extra for american made. Why cant they just build in america? I agree, and would buy if made in america.

This optic is garbage. The dot doesn't even light up until level 5 and that's in a pitch black room. New batteries, battery shipped in package, no difference. I purchased it after watching your review. I wish I hadn't.

I have a Vortex strikefire 2. Has selectable red or green dots. Green is the most visible to the human eye, and tends not to deform as much when you have astigmatism, or maybe the center dot is just more defined so I can get past it. That said, my wife and I both run with Vortex Optics and love them. They are great! Great review! I will continue to buy Vortex products as a loyal user because I don't think there is a better value for the buck out there. Especially with their service and warranty.

If you have had cataract surgery with an older graduated focus lens , you may get a halo effect on the red dot , it is not the sight

So let me get this right because your review here seems pretty damn honest. By using that rear sight aperture, it in effect works as a crude lens and if you imaged a clearer red dot then you'd need optical correction for close up viewing? have i got this right, as i need glasses for close up stuff like the approx distance to the red dot device. have I understood this correctly because I'm looking at one of these to get but want to be sure. i guess the best thing is to go into a shop and just try it out to test this. Good you did the water test, that's so important. You got another subber here. Your tests are so practical/real life! GREAT! Ok I see from lower comments, the shape change is astigmatism, yeah ok, yeah because he distance to the "virtual red dot' shouldn't make any dif I think.
