Let’s talk personal security – in particular, counter-surveillance techniques and situational awareness. Military elements are usually pretty well trained when it comes to overall force protection and situational awareness (SA). Remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings so we know what it looks like when something is “out of place”. It is in this manner that a majority of attacks can be rapidly addressed or totally prevented.

Everyday citizens can utilize these situational awareness techniques in their everyday lives and over time, vigilance and combat mindset become just part of our routine. In this video, I am attempting to cover a few very basic techniques to keep folks situationally aware of their surroundings and remain mentally ready. The idea being that in order to remain vigilant, citizens must be aware as well as not burn themselves out in a short time from hypervigilance. Trust me, staying in the “red” for a long period of time is truly mentally exhausting.

Although I am reluctant to get in to the weeds regarding advanced surveillance and counter-surveillance techniques on a public forum, I hope these few tips will give you all a start point in training your family and loved ones the importance of SA. If anyone is interested in advanced training in these techniques, please visit www.tacticalrifleman.com for more info. -Jason Phalin

I’m watching this because I don’t want to be a victim of an open world shooting. Saw a guy get out his car and 5 seconds, killed everyone in sight at the grocery store. I hope God protects me at all times but if I go that way, oh well

Very good advice for everyone. When I walk at nights by myself or walk my dog. I look around and make direct eye contact with some of the slow driving vehicles in my residential neighborhood that drive by slowly and pass by just to let them know, hey my radar is spinning and see you. Times have changed for worse nowadays and got to be vigilant. Thank you and good video!

situational awareness is a talent. its like a paranoia based on realistic situation at the moment and knowing how to react and it is more than a common sense.

Do the "walk," enter several stores, look around, take note of other people, enter the next store, ot coffee shop. Get a coffee, look at the people again, are they the same people? Stop in another shop, as if this is your routine. Are the same people still following you? Your being followed.

This is good advice I've grown up in some of the shadiest of neighborhoods in a third world country where mugging and druggies are all too common. Nope I'm not a big guy nor was I trained in anything I only started doing MMA this year, but I was never a victim of a mugging or a meth head stabbing (which was quite common). I'm sure it also took an amount of luck but I guess being aware of your surroundings at all times and me drawing as little as possible attention to myself didn't hurt my chances either. stay safe everyone.

Mad respect for the tips. I live in Jamaica🇯🇲. I'm not saying I'm the best at situational awareness, but I practice some of the tips you mentioned. I've noticed too often nowadays that people are so lost in their phones that they make themselves the perfect targets. It actually makes me sad when i see it. But i have the utmost respect for men like you who try to spread some light back into the world.

the only threat is not learning the environment. It is the only thing that seperates being a guiness to just a living. Humans are a small percentage to understanding the Universe and space starting outside your eyes. When looking up just remember that your on the space ship called Earth flying at light speed through the Universe. We are all a victim to Earth and there is no bigger threat. If talking to someone that does not point to there heart and say earth is good than there is a threat. Take care of the family and loved ones. All the crime starts at the Garden.

Code yellow – you see or are aware that danger could go on you, so you be on the qui vive.
Code red – you have to fight for your life or flee the threat.
Code orange – a threat is sighted and you need to prepare to flee or fight.

This is a bit of situational awareness.

Let me add something if the country not take care of their people and treat them equally and support them in live style provide the with good working homes of course others will turned on each other because they feel not equal feel in secured.

It is a sample of good life insurance in the first place, which will help to not have like this kind of threat .

In the end, if America focuses on their people and leave other countries in peace, they definitely they will not have any threats less.

The question is why most Americans feel under threat from others, and it is the reality that America is the real threat in the world .😂

Always be confrontational turn and say in a loud voice stop following me you (add choice curse word here) now you have alerted anyone nearby to watch this person and you have notified this person that you know and are ready for a fight. Thieves like ambush and surprise they don’t want to jack a person ready to do damage or have some good sam shoot at them. Be loud if you are scared bring attention to tour situation. Its different if you are 5’10” plus navy seal, the rest may need help. If you are quiet and try to avoid the thug you will end up a victim. It doesn’t matter where you are either outside your home or halfway around the world, thugs are everywhere. The biggest thing is to just watch what other people are doing around you in your sight range.

I love on a college campus and I always put away my phone when walking to and from buildings, especially considering that the campus is quite literally across the street from downtown.
It’s honestly alarming to see how many kids have their heads straight down looking at their phones, even while crossing the street, just no awareness of what’s going on around them at all.

Take a different route or go another direction if this doesn't Work. Go into a High Traffic Public Environment. A Restaurant, Dept Store, Gas Station, Bar, Coffee House, Vehicle Dealership, Barbershop, Etc. If the ((unknown person(s) have followed into the public environment)) -Call Law Enforcement Immediately! Tell the Operator/Dispatch Officer your being Followed or Tracked by an Unknown Person or Persons the Operator/Dispatch Officer will most likely ask of a brief discription of you and the Unknown(s) They will advice you to stay at that Location this means Law Enforcement are Already on their Way to You. The Gentleman is 100% Correct, Stay Calm and Natural, look at your phone check your apple watch etc.

Be calm, Stay Aware, Think Safe.
    Stay Frosty Out There.❄️

IF YOU CAN ALWAYS ALWAYS DO CONCEALED CARRY, NOT OPEN CARRY. THERES BEEN TIMES WHERE THE SHOOTER ETC WILL LOOK FOR PEOPLE WITH A WEAPON AND GO AFTER THEM FIRST. CONCEALED CARRY IS ALWAYS MORE TACTICAL.

Situational awareness very key right now with these abortion clinic escorts and support minions who are antifa or likewise who look to attack or sabotage prayer walk groups, church's and church parking lots, etc

Things have ramped up since the overturned R vs W

    Stay heads up and aware

Yesterday my wife almost got run over by a car. We were in a pedestrian area, where you would not even expect cars. He was parking and all of a sudden, started driving backwards. We were strolling right behind him – maybe 8-10 yards distance. I had actually noticed the car, was aware of its presence, but did not expect this sudden action at all – so I was totally surprised. My first reflex was to jump out of the way. Then I saw, that my wife was totally unaware of the danger, just looking at her phone. Talking OODA loop now. My first instinct was to attack the car – really funny in retrospect, but just being honest here. Since that obviously did not compute as a feasible option, as soon as it hit the neocortex, I just startet shouting at the top of my lungs and was preparing to pull my wife out of the danger zone. Thanks god, he somehow heard that shouting and stood on his break – less than 3 yards away. It was fucking scary. To complete the story – I let the driver live (my wife later told me, she was sure he was stoned) but get away with a little scare himself – rest assured of that. Anyways – why do I tell this – because it is about situational awareness – my lesson: Dont assume the people you are with (wife, kids, friends, …) are aware even if you are – and also be prepared to support them – have this in mind – always. I am blessed to still have my wife – rest assured, I will be more ready next time … That was just too close a call for my taste. And just as an add-on: Usually I always carry a small IFAK and a CAT – except, of course – then and there – that was lesson #2. Never slip. Just sharing. Rabbit Out. 🐾
