I grew up in a rough neighborhood where my friends never fought alone and always used numbers. It was a given.
Then I moved away and found most of my new friends were useless in a fight and easily intimidated.
You need to know your friends and how loyal they are, who will help you, and who won't.
And you especially need to know that calculus if one of them likes to start fights you have no interest in finishing.
We all know that guy, and you need to control him. Don't let your friends put you on the hook for an ego battle you disagree with.
If you have the numbers, don't step forward and over commit or you lose all advantage. Either GTFO or surround your opponent if you can't.
Nobody wins a street fight (nothing to be gained and jail if you get caught). Losing a streetfight to the wrong person means waking up in the hospital, because some people will kick you while you are down….good way to get crippled or disfigured. Avoid or play to win, never front.
The real tough dudes I know never fronted. They got quiet and then sucker punched people.
Where the stakes are high, most guys are taught by their friends or fathers to swing first and abandon all honor, and you simply do not want to challenge those people. Its not a game and its not a movie.
