We have instincts for a reason, it was the same flight or fight response that helped our ancestors avoid being eaten by sabertooth tigers or being killed by enemy warriors, you know when something is wrong something is wrong, recognize that instinct and use it to your advantage

She's listening to that gut instinct that we are all born with. It served her well, and solidified in her mind that she was right to listen. Now her evasion technique was top notch for someone her age. Just another good tool for the toolbox. Good goin' honey!!

Just ask yourself this. Would he have done that if her dad was next to her. If no, a crime was committed. You may not get prison for that, but in many cultures you do get death for it…

A social crime was committed, and if other adults had seen it, the guy in the car would have felt it too.

That driver could have been 16. And he my have had wanted to ask her out, this is why men are afraid of approaching women. The rate of single cat owning women is going up. Most women who commit suicide are single lonely women. Just a statistic look it up for yourself don't shoot the messenger.

Tell your kids to take a pix of the license plate. I'd rather not my kids walk home alone. I will teach them how to use a knife and gun properly. Ignore people, get away, get help, call the cops….people are evil out there. Evil looks like everyone else. Their hearts are the only difference.

that driver did commit a traffic violation so they can use that as a reason for contact. at least make the driver make up a story of why he was driving like that. he will strike again at some point.

Strangers abuse polite kids not the rude. We can be rude in self defense because the respect for us grown ups is made for us to know the kid is OK person to be around & trust(won't cause or stir up trouble or annoy etc.)not for kids to be stomped on by us so it's OK to be rude in self defense cuz it isn't unusual people are rude when we crossed their boundries and did/acted unethically and did something which isn't our place to do or act (ethically speaking)

That girl is VERY smart, using that pickup truck as a barrier between herself and that creep and keeping herself at a good enough distance. Too many kids would've positioned themselves relatively parallel to the vehicle and that's how so many of them end up kidnapped and taken to a second location (not blaming them of course). Also a good example of using what's around you to stay safe.

Had this happen to me when I was about 10 I was walking home from school and I happened to be walking by A bus stop when I tall black guy made eye contact with me and I felt something was off. so in started walking faster and looking back to my surprise he was now following me. I instantly crossed the street and put a black truck in between me and him but he was still coming until he noticed the driver was in the truck on his phone.

I did this once when I saw a couple girls walking down the street. It was my friends sister and her friend but they didn't recognize me. They flagged someone down and called the cops. I got swarmed a few blocks over and was let go after interrogation. Come to find out, a sex offender in same area had my exact truck but the color wasn't reported so they thought it could be him that's why I got swarmed. Still made the neighborhood watch newsletter. All that because I was trying to be goofy with my friends sister and her friend. I had a buddy riding with me also.

I taught my daughter that 35 years ago. An adult would never ask a child for help finding a puppy, or how to get somewhere. They would ask an adult. And any adult that would be offended by a little girl running away from them, doesn't have kids of their own. Any parent would be happy knowing she's following her instincts, and not being manipulated by some dude in a random car. Self defense teaches women to turn, face them, and yell STOP FOLLOWING ME! I DON'T KNOW YOU! GET AWAY! Now it may have just been a guy, absent mindedly walking, and not knowing he's causing her any alarm, BUT Any man who has a sister, a mother, an aunt, a female cousin, or a girlfriend, would be happy if she turned and confronted someone following her on the street too closely. This little girl was outstanding!

The ultimate version of running around the dinner table avoiding your sibling. Very awesome that she has situational awareness. Even I do my absolute best to make sure my phone stays in my pocket during walks. And obviously stranger danger. As long as someone you can’t live without isn’t in grave danger there is nothing wrong with hiding or finding the nearest exit. I’d hope that this is just a situation that looks sketchy to a random passer by but even the way this car moves screams please get in my candy van. Glad she is ok and I hope this person gets caught and is questioned.
