The defender should have stayed behind the first car. By running again he lost cover and if he had to shoot again it would be a harder shot due to distance.

I guess the attacker's gun was rapidly firing after he fell on to the ground. The dust after the defender turned around can be seen from the the weapon of the lying person.
Here in South Africa it is not uncommon for the attacker to have an AK or an old CZ 9mm…..many of which jam, or operator stuff ups like forgetting how to wipe off the safety etc. But when that AK lights up its not a nice experience.

@5:04 you can see a puff of smoke coming from over the parked cars. Gun battle is still going on even after the perp we see is down. I think this was a targeted hit.

5:05 The defender isn't the guy running around the corner. That guy jumped out of the truck behind the white SUV, the shirt is not as dark and the figure somewhat different. If you look at the SUV where the defender ran behind u can see his shadow go to the left and is gone 5:07, then u can see another burst of smoke from the left back of the SUV 5:08. Then his feet come back into view as he moves toward the middle of the vehicle. One or more attackers were there because there seems to be another burst of smoke coming from the left behind the SUV, I believe the defender fired at someone else. 5:10 He moves to the middle again, feet can be seen. I even think he gets into the SUV. 5:13 U can see feet under the SUV on the left near the passanger door and then the door closes. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's how it looks to me.
