FYI if you shoot a gun directly up into the air the bullet will travel until its expended all its energy then fall at its terminal velocity back to earth… it isn't going to kill anyone.

Amazing how little people know what you can't do in real life due to real laws, can't just pop off like a badass like in the movies after the perp has run off as to be like see what I have, what goes up must come down but a lot of people just don't care or don't know.

This is why we always talk about the rules of firearms safety and why they must be practiced vigorously. If every defender understood and respected those rules, it wouldn't breed this anti-gun culture that pushes legislations so much that it turns society into a free-for-all for armed criminals while good people are left defenseless.

Why is it illegal for that lady to shoot into the air. I’m pretty sure that’s what joe Biden said to do but with a shotgun?

this is a common misconception. a small caliber bullet is fighting against the air always. but out of the gun it is instantly propelled to 1300 ft/sec. shooting straight up in the air, the same follows. but at the apex, when the bullet is weightless, it is just gravity pulling it down. BUT this time the wind resitstance effectively nullifies most of the gained velocity. so they are not lethal. will they sting, maybe break the skin? probably. but they are not lethal. imho all of the deaths attributed to this phenomenon were essentially homicide of a sort.

btw the US army sorta already tested this long ago. they wanted to study bullet trajectory accounting for a possible coriolis effect. they fired typical rounds out of guns straight up into the air and found them in the dirt nearby, causing no more harm to the ground than had you thrown it by hand.

all that said, when the projectile is big enough, like a canon ball, then it easily overcomes wind resistance and is quite lethal.

I actually agree that the lady in Video #2 should be charged. In terms of gravity those rounds are going to come back down and land somewhere. She could've hit or Heaven forbid killed someone (possibly even herself) with one of those bullets she fired in the air. If she wanted to scare the burglar off, firing into the dirt would've been a much better idea. You're responsible for every single round that exits the muzzle of your firearm.

Screw California. She would’ve caught a murder charge if she didn’t shoot warning shots. We don’t know if she felt her life was in danger
