If they don’t say EXACTLY what they should, RUN AWAY SCREAMING FOR HELP & call emergency & us when you’re safely away. If someone grabs you, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT & YELL like as loud as you can! You’ll NEVER be in trouble or punished for being careful & doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep yourself safe!! The consequences of trusting the wrong people & going with them is WORSE than any embarrassment you could feel by making a mistake & running away.

Glad someone was home! She probably had a key to the house but banged on the door to not fully turn her back to this punk while fidgeting with keys (whether that was a conscious decision or not it was a good one).
The only thing I can suggest is giving her defensive training and have her call someone if she sees something suspicious like someone following her. Especially carrying pepper spray! I know kids can get expelled from school from having it but I'd rather my kid get expelled and have a defensive tool that end up in a situation like this and not have anything! Because that dude didn't try that hard and if he had help she could have been gone!
Also this is a good reason to have someone out side waiting for her to come home, or have all of the kids walk eachother home. Or all go to one house and have a parent drive them home or walk with them.
Edit– Clarification: What I mean my "him not trying hard" was when she breaks free he thankfully ran instead of still pursuing.

I tell my kids if anyone is trying to take you make as much noise as possible. If in a store if you need to start grabbing things off the shelf and breaking stuff do it that will get people's attention the more expensive the items the better. Draw as much attention as possible any way you can

People can rag on the big brother but in the end he did the right thing by restraining himself from a physical altercation. His biggest priority should be protecting his little sister and he's unarmed, if he get shot dead then we'll,….. He just needs make sure he's is no longer an eminent threat and get her to safety. My son is 11 and he keeps asking me when he will be able to walk home from school by himself . I tell him when he is 35 ….. Im going to show him this video , I talk to him all the time to be aware of his surroundings . Thank goodness the girl is ok .
