Scream at a suicidal person, good job bro…
High speed skittles would have saved lives and ended this peacefully and fast,,, Why are we not using less lethal force available ,, Pepper balls would have had him cuffed in 5 minutes
A house divided among itself will fall. Which is exactly what happened to this, supposed to be a team but unfortunately not in this situation. It is obvious to me that the lack of effective communication played as much a part as the other factors. I hope this video is used at a teaching tool. Actually, I just realized how redundant that was. I gotta say, despite the sad nature of it, the way the hosts introduced the video commands respect. I appreciate their to-the-point empathetic but stern demeanor here.
I wish we could go back to swords and skirts 👽
Your vids should be mandatory viewing for sworn and civilians alike. The gun-averse folks are fearful due to ignorance and your vids consistently explain context that even well produced OIS reports fail to explain.
No big deal to the PD, it will cost the tax payers for their mistake. Most likely very little accountability will be held in this. Just enough to say action was taken. Paid leave and extra training which just so happens to also be on the tax payers dime.
The longer a suicidal person goes looking down the barrel of a law enforcement firearm the more appealing suicide by cop becomes. If you're really there to help then you must make a personal, human connection. You can only do that if your firearm is holstered.
Estoy aquí para ayudarte mi amigo.
Shots fired Officer needs help. Is that something cadets have to recite 6 billion times before getting on the streets? The only one that needed help was the dude who got shot.
Cool.
Suicidal dude sitting on stairs, they roll up, draw down on him, light him up with spot lights and scream at him… 🫤 It takes the right mix of compassion, communication and being guarded. Full F up
Why do military courts punish soldiers so severely for harming foreigners whilst police are held to civilian level or less standard concerning this mess? Is there not a higher standard for our own civilians, not to demean the lives of foreigners, but it only makes sense.
The cop who fired his gun should be fired from his job and the department should be sued by the family, but I don’t agree with charging cops with murder or even manslaughter when they make honest negligent mistakes even when those mistakes lead to someone’s unfortunate death.
Taser ?
As soon as he lowered the knife from his neck i would have yelled “BEANBAG!” and shot his shoulder holding the knife. Definitely would have dropped it, would have been able to save him. I’ve learned throughly how stupid most people can be, and rather than letting bad stuff happen and getting angry at them, I catch them before it happens and constantly remind them till i know they remember, and even then I still announce stuff and give a simplified breakdown of the Why behind my words. Some get mad and then im treating them like they’re dumb or a kid but its for the best. I’d rather have someone see things clearly and act appropriately while getting annoyed with me, than see continuous screw ups.
Before the lessons started in the video I seen a few errors. 1) Too many people shouting at the guy. One person runs the convo. 2) verbal broken record doesn't work. Make that rapport. 3) if you're gonna fire less lethal, call it out, put that mental thing in your partner's mind.
Love how you talk about stepping out from behind the badge. I've had encounters with police where I was wanting to hurt myself and the cops were horrible, that was a long time ago and I believe there's been a change in their procedures and attitudes.
Why this cop kept his gun trained on him in the first place seems a but much. If nothing else, pump a few rounds off of non lethal and tackle him 🤷🏼♂️
a knife? without any immediate threat! This is just wrong! and body cams should be moved to the forehead.
Straight up murder
These two "experts" need to put on a uniform and patrol the streets…with body cams so we can scrutinize their every move after the fact.
🤬
This cop didn’t give a fuck about any of that he just wanted to shoot somebody
Ouch… yeah… bad shoot for sure. I'm sad for the family here. Any links to the department's actions after this?
@4:35 💀5 shots really, now his family's rich in moving on up💵🤔
Wait Junior wasn't black? I think this cop feels just fine this is LAPD and I might add you're a threat if your breathing .
American cops kill more people than the criminals at this point.
Welllp potentially a dangerous individual for future. If he's to the point of carrying knifes he's too dangerous to keep around. Cops gave him what he asked for. A mistake indeed but could of ended in a shooting if none lethal didn't work. But the PR is going to have their way with them.
The cop who said less lethal only even started shooting ffs what a bunch of retards . Guy who shot less lethal should have announced his shot and others need to give 40mm time to work before they shoot
Officer needs help 😂😂😂
😳😳😳😳😳. NO TENÍAN PISTOLA ELECTRIC….?????
Unjustified 110%!! Actions are needed in this situation
Got what he deserved. He was told enough times to drop it. He kept coming forward. I'm not blaming the cops for this one.
Did you notice that there was a cop pulling up and exiting their vehicle when the less lethal was fired and then the officer fired the rounds?
Tactical training in law-enforcement can never be empathized enough. If one officer makes an error, it can create a domino effect of bad decisions and tragedy all the way through. Everything from communication to force deployment has to be optimal, or else it just shouldn't make the cut for what must to be done at any given moment. There are times where margins of error can be overlooked due to human performance, but in such a critical position this ain't it.
John it seems to me that you are becoming more level headed when it comes to dealing with people in crisis? Also, you are leveling a little more scrutiny toward police tactics and training in regards to those in crisis. Glad to see this. One day any one of us could find ourselves in crisis or mentally unstable.
Your comments are right on.. whether by incompetence or malice the result is the same. A completely unjustified/criminal killing and another reason many people who live in bad neighborhoods don’t trust police and sometimes even turn to street justice or vigilantism.
This dude needs to be trialed and sentenced- sent to jail A badge isn’t a get out of jail card .
I thought I heard the man say put a bean bag on em, why wasn't thère a beanbag shotgun there?
Why point a weapon at someone who is threatening themselves? This seems like negligence and an unnecessary death. It would appear that the firearm is the first option chosen by these officers even if a threat to themselves is not present.
This is almost as bad as the cop who thought she was holding a taser and executed the guy in the car.
BAD SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!
A cop deployed a less lethal. So the other idiots open fire with real guns??
Looks like the police did something wrong here
One thing I don't hear you guys talk about is some of these fuckers are gun hoe! I've been on the force 5 years and I haven't even got to kill anybody could it be heard, shooting and want to get in on the action so he put a couple rounds in the dude?
Mother question is why don't we use tranquilizer darts on these long boring standoffs when you got this much time to think about what you're going to do. Pull out the blow dart and drop a few in his neck while he's standing there. Contemplating his next maneuver I mean if they could take a bear down you sure she could knock this little weasel out of the fight
I'm so glad the police got called to prevent this man from hurting himself.
None of this makes sense. We place no value on civilian life, and infinate value on a cops life.
22 years in LE here, 12 of which CIT certified, 1 year as a CIT instructor. I love my blue family and I've made my share of mistakes but THIS was piss poor performance on MULTIPLE fronts.
murder
The suspect wasn't responding to commands. He refused to comply to drop his deadly weapon. They used a less lethal option but it didn't work. The officer had to consider his own safety and his fellow officers safety.
This shooting is a problem. There was still plenty of separation distance.
